“So much love is put into The Tiny Chef Show. It’s such a tactile process: making the clothes, the lighting, the set. There’s no shortcut. You can’t just click a mouse and be done.”

Larsen explained that they’d been in a partnership with Nick for five years and were waiting for news of a third season for a year, hoping that theirEmmy win in 2023would be the green light they needed to continue the show.

“Nick was in a tricky spot,” she said. “They had really good intentions with the show, and I think it was bad timing with the merger and a lot of stuff that’s happening in the industry. …At least the cancellation allowed us to do something like this on social media, where we can control our fate. It was bittersweet. Chef made a lot of friends at Nickelodeon. There’s no ill will there.”

When asked if they’d heard from Nickelodeon since going viral, Larsen said they’d gotten a “mixed reaction” from the company.

“I think people understand, and I don’t think anyone there really wanted to cancel. They’re probably disappointed, too. I get it, it’s hard.”

Tiny Chef continues to receive widespread support on social media as he looks for a new home for his cooking show. With so much money raised in such a short time as well as massive publicity, fans are hopeful he’ll have a new job very soon.
