Instead, Sega has taken a leaf out ofMarvel’s iconic villain Thanos, collecting every popular character they can get their hands on like they were Infinity Stones. So far, the devs have revealed the Yakuza series’ Kasuga Ichiban, Persona 5’s Joker, and even collabed with the iconic virtual idolHatsune Miku.

Well, Sega isn’t done there as now SpongeBob SquarePants will be joining the star-studded cast for some speedy races around Bikini Bottom.

SpongeBob joins Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds roster

On June 22, Sega uploaded a new trailer for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, giving fans a glimpse at SpongeBob and his Bikini Bottom-themed race track. As we mentioned earlier, Nickelodeon’s sentient sea sponge comes kitted out with his very own Krabby Patty kart, while the race course features iconic locations from the show.

At one point, SpongeBob and his fellow racers can be seen smashing through the front doors of the Krusty Krab, while a dead-eyed Squidward taps away at the cash register. There’s even a mecha version of the series’ iconic villain, Plankton.

Players must avoid being crushed by his colossal fists and deadly eye lazer beam if they wish to make it to the field of ping, bouncy jellyfish. Patrick was also shown off near the end, so SpongeBob fans will be able to pick between the ditzy duo when embarking upon races.
