Sirens: Everything we know about the new Netflix series
Bringing together a trio of impeccable actresses is always exciting, and Sirens from Netflix could be one to watch out for when it releases.
2024 has been an unforgettable year so far fornew TV showsonNetflix. With a stacked library of shows coming out, we’re all still talking about Baby Reindeer,Bridgerton, and 3 Body Problem.

The rest of the year’s slate is also looking pretty beefy, with titles includingThe Umbrella Academy Season 4,Emily in Paris Season 4, and – potentially –Virgin River Season 6.
After all that, exciting prospects are on the horizon, including the new acquisition Sirens. It’s stayed fairly under the radar since its announcement, but here’s everything we know so far.

Is there a Sirens release date on Netflix?
No, Sirens has no confirmed release date as of writing. However, we can safely rule out a late 2024 release based on existing Netflix plans.
We know Sirens won’t be airing this year because it was only announced on July 9, and is currently in production in New York. Thestreaming servicehas previously come under fire for making fans wait for extended periods between new seasons, so they’re not going to act quickly on a new project.

What’s most likely is that Sirens will be released on Netflix at some point in 2025. Common sense suggests that it would be in the latter half of the year – projects such asThe Thursday Murder Club, which began filming beforehand, won’t be released until early fall.
Sirens cast and creative team
Julianne Moore, Milly Alcock, and Meghann Fahy are leading the Sirens cast, with additional supporting cast members including Kevin Bacon.
Unless you’ve lived under a rock since the 1990s, you’ll already be well-versed with Julianne Moore’s filmography. Most recently, she’s started in Mary Kay Letourneau-inspired dramaMay December– also on Netflix – and Starz miniseries Mary & George.

You’ll also likely recognize Milly Alcock and Meghann Fahy from a range of major TV shows. Alcock played a young Rhaenyra Targaryen inSeason 1 of House of the Dragon, while Fahy starred as flighty yet painfully aware Daphne in Season 2 ofThe White Lotus.
The full cast list reads:
Sirens’ executive producers include Dani Gorin, Nicole Kassell, Tom Ackerley, and none other than Producer Barbie herself, Margot Robbie.
Is Sirens based on an existing story?
Yes!Sirens is based on the 2011 play Elemeno Pea, written by Molly Smith Metzler.
It’s a name you might not have heard before, and for good reason. Premiering in 2011, it had its debut at the Humana Festival of New American Plays in Louisville, Kentucky, before running productions across various states until 2014.
But you might have heard of Metzler herself. This isn’t the first time she’s teamed up with Netflix, having previously been the showrunner for Margaret Qualley’s Maid.
What we don’t yet know is how faithfully theNetflixadaptation will stick to the original text. Typically, their projects are known for taking a healthy dose of creative license, so time will tell.
Sirens plot
Sirens follows sisters Devon (Fahy) and Simone (Alcock) after Simone takes a job with socialite and wife of a billionaire Michaela (Moore).
As a loaded animal activist, Michaela has a heady and full-on luxury lifestyle, which is the ultimate drug for young Simone. As her older sister, Devon feels like it’s time for an intervention… but having Michaela on your bad side is a very dangerous thing.
The entire series is set over one weekend located at Michaela and husband Peter’s (Bacon) lavish estate on the beach. Sirens is described by Netflix as “an incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power, and class.”
