God of War & The Last of Us will be playable on Xbox Ally

Although very much marketed around Microsoft and its games, the ROG Xbox Ally will be able to access major first-party Sony titles. Specifically, the ones that have been given PC ports.

This was confirmed in an interview fromGame Filewhere they asked if the likes of God of War would be playable on the console, to which a Microsoft rep replied: “Because these handhelds run Windows, you have access to all the games you can play on Windows PCs.”

So, this means that some of PlayStation’s most critically-acclaimed games will be in the palm of your hands, such asGod of War (2018) and Ragnarok,The Last of Us Part 1 and 2,Horizon Forbidden West, and even the threeInsomniac Spider-Man games.

Of course, if you own any of these titles on PlayStation, you’d have to purchase them again on PC to play them on the Ally. But given that Sony doesn’t currently have a handheld capable of running games for itself.

Instead, players on the other side of the fence have the PlayStation Portal, which can stream from a PS5 console or from the Cloud, but requires a constant internet connection to use.

With this in mind, the Ally might even appeal to PlayStation die-hards, as it finally gives them a way to play some of the platform’s biggest games on the go without relying on remote play.

The ROG Xbox Ally is due to arrive in late 2025, but you won’t be able to play newer releases likeGhost of YoteiorDeath Stranding 2, as Sony tends to release PC ports around two years after a game launches.
