One Piece Finally Confirms Gin is Alive and in the New World
Created by Eiichiro Oda, Chapter #1117, “A”
Known as the “Man-Demon” Gin was a relatively minor character in the Baratie Arc, especially in the grand scheme of things with Mihawk’s arrival at the scene. Many speculated that he could have died from inhaling the poisonous gases of Don Krieg’s MH5 bomb. However, fans have not forgotten him and have been waiting for him to return for years, especiallybecause of his promise to meet Luffy again in the Grand Line, and it seems he may finally have his chance to fulfill that promise.
The outlandish theories surrounding Gin over the years prove just how much fans have been awaiting his return. Some theorized he could be Admiral Rokugyu or even Killer, Eutass Kid’s right-hand man while others believed he might be found at Big Mom’s Tea Party or even at Wano due to the subtle Japanese aspects of his character. Safe to say, all these theories were wrong, but Gin is definitely alive, much to fans' relief.

Gin’s Return Proves Oda Never Forgets Even the Smallest Characters
The last few chapters of the Egghead Arc have single-handedlyproved just how well Eiichiro Oda knows the intricacies of his story, down to even the most minor characters. Before Gin, chapter #1114 similarly surprised fans with anunexpected cameo from Chouchou, who had only appeared once in a cover story since the East Blue Saga.
Even a seemingly forgotten character like Gaimon made an appearance inFilm: Red’s ending sequence, while Captain Kuro who hadn’t been heard from since Syrup Village appeared on a cover story when fans least expected, which means fans can hope to see even the most obscure characters make a return before the finale ofOne Piece.
