Summary
It may still be 3 years untilAvengers: Secret Warsreleases, but the rumor mill has already cast countlessMarvelstars for the crossover event. But despite the obvious draw of an Avengers project, Anson Mount, star of the ill-fatedInhumansTV show, has shot down suggestions that he will reprise his role as Black Bolt for a second time.
Mount took toX.comto respond to a supposed MCU “scoop” confirming that theInhumanscastwill return for2027’sAvengers: Secret Warswith hilarious venom:

TheStar Trek: Strange New Worldsleadpreviously returned as part of the multiversal Illuminati team inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but anyone hoping to see him in the MCU again may have to wait a little longer thanSecret Wars. The Inhumans are just the latest Marvel characters to be linked by the fandom toSecret Wars, with Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parkers, the original X-Men cast, and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool all claimed as scoops.
What Is Secret Wars? Avengers 6’s Title Explained
Marvel Studios has revealed its plans for Avengers 6 entitled Secret Wars, but what is this massive event what does it mean for the MCU?
Anson Mount Has Previously Discussed Returning To The MCU
He may have shot down this specific “leak”, butMount has previously talked about the possibility of returning to play Black Bolt in the MCU. In fact, he went as far asconfirming to Radio Timesthat some discussions had already happened. When asked about the chance of a return in a future MCU movie, Mount was quite definitive:
“If the answer was yes I wouldn’t be able to tell you, but the answer is no, so I can. I’ve had some informal conversations with the powers [at] Marvel and it’s a conversation, but they’ve got their current phase that they need to do… I don’t know, we’ll see. I would love to jump back into the cowl and do it again. I love Black Bolt as a character.”

It’s interesting to note that Mount has spoken to Marvel’s “powers” about potentially returning, even thoughMultiverse of Madnessleft his multiverse variant unequivocally dead. But thenthe multiverse is the ultimate loophole. It is perhaps unsurprising that his previous comments have led to speculation, and the most logical option of Marvel’s confirmed projects would beSecret Wars.
So far, none ofAvengers: Secret Warspossible casthas been revealed, though it’s likely that most of the current active heroes in the MCU will play some part. Or at least, that’s the assumption that is driving much of the online speculation. Given the multiverse concept and the original Marvel ComicsSecret Warsevent, a huge cast and a lot of fan-service cameos feels inevitable.
