Marvel Rivals Magneto guide: Abilities, ultimate, tips, more
Magneto is a VanguardcharacterinMarvel Rivals, and here’s everything you need to know about his abilities, ultimate, and the best ways to play him in matches.
When it comes to Marvel Rivals team compositions, Vanguard is one of the most important roles as they are in charge of setting your team’s tempo and controlling space.

AlongsideVenom, Magneto is one of the toughest Vanguards in the game. He’s a fantastic character who can make his own plays but also benefit the rest of the team greatly, especially in close-ranged combat.
Magneto stats in Marvel Rivals
Magneto is a bit of an all-or-nothing character in Marvel Rivals, and he really excels in some areas while being sorely lacking in others. His health is his greatest strength and he can take a ton of punishment before he goes down, particularly when taking his defensive abilities into account.
As a Vanguard, you’ll be expected to open engagements and draw fire, with Magneto a solid choice against quite a few of the game’s potential match-ups.

Season 1 meta changes
Magneto has had a couple of changes in theseason 1.5 patchincreasing his projectile damage, and reducing Metallic Curtain’s energy reduction. His full changes are:
As you might expect from a character called Magento, a lot of his attacks are iron-related. The Iron Volley and Mag-Cannon do impressive damage while enabling the character to deal damage on the way into the fight, disrupting the enemy’s ability to stall your approach.

Magneto abilities
Being a bullet sponge is not exactly what you’d want from every Vanguard, but if Magneto has one specialty, it’s that. If you manage your cooldowns properly, you should have enough shields to absorb all incoming damage.
How to play Magneto in Marvel Rivals
To play Magneto efficiently, you want tobe a damage sponge to an extent. Because your Bulwarks help stack iron rings to get your secondary fire ready, it’s always best toput them on allies that are diving in and engaging in a fight.
Additionally, although Metallic Curtain doesn’t last a long time, it should be enough for you and your team to take space. Since there is no shield health, you may walk up without any fear that it will break on you.

SinceMag-Cannonis not on a cooldown, only being down when you don’t have any iron rings, try to use it as much as possible when it’s on a full charge. It’s a great ability to knock back an enemy and burst them down.
His ultimate,Meteor M, is agreat engagement toolthat dealsa lot of damage instantlywhich should give you a good upper hand in a team fight. Since you may descend slowly, make sure you’re using it to fly down to a favorable position after using your ult.
Finally,Magneto excels in close to medium range, so don’t expect to be able to do much when it comes to long-range fights.
Best team composition
Magneto has quite a few complementary champion options as well as some that he hard counters. The best heroes to pick alongside Magneto are as follows:
Luna Snow is the best Strategist in Marvel Rivals in terms of raw sustain and she slots in well to any party composition. Combined with Magneto’s damage reduction in particular, it quickly turns him into an unkillable behemoth who is very difficult to stop.
Mantis is one of the strongest Strategist characters in the game and serves as an impressive foil to the rest of the team comp. Her AoE sleep is excellent when playing alongside Magneto, allowing the latter to hit as many enemies as possible with his damaging abilities.
The Punisher
The Punisher is an excellent pick in any comp, but the cover he provides from immense range is his most tremendous boon in combination with Magneto. While you make your way in and avoid taking damage, the enemy will be too busy trying to determine where they are getting picked off from.
Scarlet Witch
As well as being easy to play, Scarlet Witch is the only hero with a Team-Up ability that directly relates to Magneto. Thankfully, it’s also one of the best in the game and you’d be stupid not to bring it along for the ride wherever possible.
Venom is an unkillable diver at the back line and should cover Magneto in the same way that The Punisher provides cover from afar. The threat he poses is immense, and he’s very tough to kill, which should give you all the time you need to get into position and drop that devastating ult.
Best counters
If you find yourself going up against Magneto on the opposite team, there are some choices that should give you a bit of an easier time in the heat of battle:
The theme among direct Magneto counters includes flying and particularly agile counters. Iron Man has the most consistent flight in the game and Magneto moves pretty slowly, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble dispatching him as Tony Stark.
Spider-Man
Peter Parker and his web-slinging ways make him a nightmare for characters like Magneto. His movement makes him tough to pin down and Magneto players have a tough time catching him to get their damage-dealing abilities off effectively.
Storm isn’t a direct counter to many characters in Marvel Rivals, but she’s a solid choice against Magneto. Her Goddess Boost increases movement for everyone on the team, quickly leaving Magneto in the dust and her other abilities should allow her to do a lot of damage to him before he gets close.
