Summary
NewHonkai: Star Railbanner leaks have emerged and hint at the introduction of a mechanic that will repeat a terribleGenshin Impactmistake. The games developed by HoYoverse share a lot of similarities in the sense that both are gachas with obtainable characters whose progression and upgrades rely on farming. Despite the differences in the narrative and gameplay style, the games have shared mechanics and there is a lot of overlap when it comes to updates. A newGenshin Impact4.8 UI leakis heavily inspired by a feature that has long been present inHonkai, for instance.
Now, a new leak suggests that the turn-based RPG will gain the worst type of banner used in the action RPG. According to information obtained by the leaker known as GuraLover, which was then shared in a post tagged as “Questionable” onReddit,Honkai: Star Railwill receive a mixed banner that is similar toGenshin Impact’s Chronicled Wish, though the exact rules for pulling are still uncertain. Chronicled Wish was introduced toGenshin Impactearlier this year, offering a roster of possible 5-star characters and weapons that have been absent from dedicated rerun banners for a while.

Honkai: Star Rail’s Leaked Chronicled Wish Banner Is A Terrible Mistake
The Banner In Genshin Impact Worked Poorly
The possibility of the turn-based RPG gaining a mixed banner to the likes of the Chronicled Wishsounds like a terrible idea given the system’s poor functionalityinGenshin Impact. The idea behind Chronicled Wish is to bring characters that are not getting a rerun anytime soon and offer players a chance to get them. While it does sound like a great way of circumventing the lack of banner reruns, the character selection inHonkai: Star Railcan be the banner’s own worst enemy.
“The mixed banner structure seems unavoidable.”

In the first Chronicled Wish, the roster of characters was composed of six 5-star characters, two of which are not part of the regular pool of rewardsfor all banners. As such, this banner was doing very little favors for anyone who did not want Albedo and Eula, the only two who relied specifically on their own dedicated banners. On top of that, the Chronicled Wish also has 50-50 mechanics, just like any other banner, but it seems even more discouraging to watch a desired character be lost to a standard character inGenshin Impactinstead of another limited-time unit.
Players get to select who or what weapon they desire and if their first 5-star pull is not what they selected, the next is ensured to be. This pity system is reminiscent ofGenshin’s own mixed weapons banner, which is also problematic. Overall, the idea of bringing absent characters back into rotation with a mixed banner is good, but the execution so far has been poor, which sparks concern about howHonkai: Star Railis planning to implement the system if the leaks are true.
Honkai: Star Railtends to be a lot more generous to its players thanGenshin Impact.
For now, however, this information should be taken with a grain of salt, as it may be incorrect or subject to change. If the initial leak is true, more details about the system should start emerging through other leaks and eventually culminate in a confirmation. It does, however, not seem like a far-fetched addition consideringHonkai: Star Rail’s playable character rosteris expanding with every patch.
