Summary

One ofAdventure Time’s most nightmare-inducing images comes from an unexpected combination between Jake and Marceline. TheAdventure Timeseries is in no short supply of terrifying creations that are created exclusively to give fans nightmares. However, one of the most disturbing images inAdventure Timehistory actually comes from the comics.

InAdventure Time#33by Ryan North, Shelli Paroline, and Braden Lamb, Finn, Jake, Marceline, Bubblegum, and others are being held by the Mnemenoid, a being that has taken Finn’s memories. However, when Jake attempts to escape, Marceline catches the villain by surprise, causing him to lose focus and release everyone. In an effort to fight back, Jake and Marceline team up to show off a new move as the two officially combine, with Jake acting as armor for Marceline’s ultimate vampire form.

Jake and Marceline’s Ultimate Nightmare Fuel Form

This horrific image is pure nightmare fuel as itsplits Jake’s head in half, revealing Marceline’s agape mouth with sharp teeth and a tendril-like tongue hanging out.Plus, with claws and bat ears to round it all out, it’s something only body horror enthusiasts like David Cronenberg could dream up.

Jake and Marceline’s Fusion Is the Endgame of Their Friendship

Adventure Time#33 by Ryan North, Shelli Paroline, Braden Lamb, and Steve Wands

Fascinatingly, Jake and Marceline’s team-up happens after years of the two being at odds with each other. When Marceline originally debuted in the series, Jake was absolutely terrified of her because she was a vampire. He wanted nothing to do with her and at times even attempted to prevent Finn from connecting with her. However,asAdventure Timeevolved,Jake’s views on Marceline became more friendly as the two slowly became friends, making them some of the show’s most likable characters.

After years of development, though, the two have grown closer as friends, with Jake even describing their official fusion as ‘FRIENDSHIP!!’

This final form in the comics is the perfect way to show just how far the two have come. Jake would never have thought of teaming up with Marceline if he were the same as he was in the show’s first season. After years of development, though, the two have grown closer as friends, with Jake even describing their official fusion as “FRIENDSHIP!!” It’s a satisfying pay-off to Jake and Marceline’s journey as characters, since Jake learns to overcome his fear of vampires to develop a strong friendship with a pretty cool person.

Jake’s Nightmare Shapeshift Opens Potential for Other Terrifying Team-Ups

The Sky’s the Limit for Jake’s Stretchy Powers

Of course, with Jake officially merging with Marceline in this comic, it begs the question of whatother absolutely horrifying forms Jake could take by teaming up with other beings in Ooo. He has already merged withhis best friend Finnby becoming his suit of armor, but this was essentially Finn stepping into Jake’s mouth, not an actual merge. One potential team-up would be Jake merging withone ofAdventure Time’s best villains, the Lich, in what would undeniably be a terrifying look. Others could include characters such as Ice King, Lemongrab, the Psychic Tandem War Elephant, and more.

Jake’s stretchiness is incredibly malleable, so there are tons of incredible possibilities for him to bend his body to create something absolutely horrific. However, none would have nearly as much meaning as his team-up with Marceline. Their final form holds a lot of weight after years of character development, making their merge not just one ofAdventure Time’s most nightmare-inducing images, but also one of its most wholesome.
