Irving star’s interview resurfaces and it’s good news for Severance Season 3
Irvingwas a no-show in theSeverance Season 2 finale, but don’t be sad. According to a resurfaced interview, John Turturro could very well be back for more – and the same goes for Christopher Walken’s Burt.
The last time we saw Irving was in an emotional scene inSeason 2 Episode 9. After Burt reveals that he worked as a driver for Lumon, he drives Irving and his dog Radar to the train station – but not to harm them.

On the contrary, he tells him to get as far away from Kier as possible for his own safety. “You asked me why I severed,” says Burt. “I liked the idea that I could be innocent again, part of me. But then my innocent part fell in love with you.”
Thepair touch headsjust as their Innies did inSeveranceSeason 1, before Irving hops on the train and leaves. As such, Irving was nowhere to be seen in the Season 2 finale.

Irving’s story ‘not over’ in Severance Season 3
However, in an interview earlier this month, Turturro said he wants to return to theApple TV+ series. And withSeverance Season 3 now officially going ahead, chances are Irving will be back in some capacity.
When asked byThe Hollywood Reporterif he’d “feel satisfied if this was the end for Irving,” Turturro replied, “No. And I don’t think it is. If someone wanted the story to be complete? It could be! But I think there’s so much more here.”

The actor was then asked if there’s a part of his character’s backstory he’d like to see on the screen, to which he said, “Oh yeah. Oh yeah. And it would have to be in a very active way.”

Obviously, he couldn’t elaborate, but one of the biggest questions about his character is why he ended up getting severed. In Season 1, during the Overtime Contingency Protocol, Irving’s Innie discovers his Outie has a map marked with the addresses of former severed employees.
Plus, his Outie spends his free time painting theExports Hallover and over again, pointing to the idea that he’s some sort of anti-Lumon activist or investigative journalist.
We still don’t know the full picture, so it would certainly be interesting to learn more inSeverance Season 3. The fans agree, with one writing onReddit, “John Turturro I need you to get back on that set immediately.”
Another shared the THR interview, stating, “News about John Turturro/Irving… John Turturro (Irving) is going to be in Season 3.
“Turturro confirmed that there is so much that we don’t know about Irving, and he’s here to stay. Turturro has unfinished business in his character arc. Thank Kier. We are so BACK.”
“We still don’t know who he was phoning with his Lumon research,” added a third, with a fourth commenting, “And Cobel was surprised Irving knew about the dark hallway with the elevator.”
