Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Interview with the Vampire season 2, episode 6 and Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire novel!
Summary
Interview with the Vampirestar Assad Zaman has teased a faithful ending to season 2 of the show, also hinting at how the final episode will establish what could happen in season 3. DuringInterview with the Vampireseason 2, episode 6, it was revealed that Zaman’s Armand allowed Santiago’s Coven to capture Louis, Claudia, and Madeleine, putting them on trial for the first two’s attempt at killing Lestat. The final moments of the episode also revealed the ancient vampire to be alive, present for the upcoming tribulations in Paris.
Speaking withEntertainment Weekly, Zaman explained howInterview with the Vampireseason 2 will be maintaining faithfulness to Anne Rice’s original novel during its ending, singling out episode 7 in particular. However, the actor also says there will be some surprises in store before the show is over, which will set the stage for a potential season 3. Check out what Zaman had to say below:

I don’t think that we are veering too wildly away from how the book ends, but we are also setting up lots of new threads that we can go into season 3 with. Book readers will see, especially when we get to episode 7, we tie things up really nicely and we honor the story and it is fantastical in all its ways. I am very proud of how we have told the story, and I think we definitively tell the story of Interview With the Vampire, this first book, properly honor it, and ended it really nicely.
What Could Interview With The Vampire Season 3 Be About?
The Show Is Based On Rice’s Vampire Chronicles Books
Given Zaman’s statement, it appears the final episode of season 2 will be faithfully adapting Rice’s book to the small screen, hinting at a heartbreaking conclusion to Louis' story. In the original novel,Claudia and Madeleine are forced to burn in the sunlight, while the protagonist is saved by Armand from being starved in a coffin. However, one key difference between the book and the show is that, in the adaptation, the two escapees are still together decades after the tragic event transpired.
GivenLestat’s return in the upcoming episode, it appears all the vital characters throughoutInterview with the Vampire’s cast will have something to do when everything ends. However, if the show is setting up season 3 with its final episode, there will likely be plenty of unexpected twists in store. These might be used to transition the series into adapting another book from Rice’sThe Vampire Chronicles, the second of which is calledThe Vampire Lestat. If this happens, it will be a big step for the series, as its story becomes very different moving forward.

Although it’s unclear what could happen inInterview with the Vampireseason 3,it seems guaranteed to involve the Talamasca to some capacity, as well as Lestat’s possible return in the present day. Louis and Armand are also likely to return, no doubt grappling with having to relive Claudia’s death while being interviewed by Daniel. With two episodes left and plenty of ways the show can set up its future, it remains to be seen how the story will continue following an ending faithful to the novel.
