The idea of Scarlett Johansson dying at the beginning of aJurassic Worldmovie is quite shocking. She is an incredibly recognizable star and someone whose presence in aJurassicmovie would help bring in bigger crowds. I already watched all threeJurassic Worldmoviesin theaters, but I would have been even more excited to do so if it was announced beforehand that Johansson was going to appear.Everyone would assume that her character would be a major presencein whichever movie she was introduced in, not that she would be a candidate to die.
Jurassic World 4or any of the prior movies killing a character played by Scarlett Johansson would have been surprising at any point, but it happening right away would be a complete blindside. The sci-fi action franchisewould start out feeling more like a horror moviealmost, with Johansson being the signature opening kill in this case. That shock of watching an A-list star die in the opening minutes of aJurassicmovie would be massive, and the reverberations of that decision make the twist actually make sense to me.

Jurassic World 4 Killing Scarlett Johansson’s Character Would Immediately Raise The Stakes
Anyone Could Die Then
IfJurassic World 4killed Scarlett Johansson in the opening five minutes and fulfilled her interest, it would immediately signal to audiences that this is a very different entry in the franchise. Previous installments have shown some minor characters die early on, but the films have never killed off anyone close to the former MCU lead in terms of star power. I knowI wouldn’t be the only one who would suddenly become much more terrified of the dinosaursand whether the other characters would survive if I had to watch Johansson die minutes intoJurassic World 4.
The shock value only adds to the elevated stakes that would come after. There have rarely been times in the franchise where there seemed to be any sense of the main characters being at risk of dying. If Scarlett Johansson’s character was killed at the beginning ofJurassic World 4, that would immediately change. I’d immediately question if Mahershala Ali or other cast members would be the next to go. So even though my preference would be for Johansson not to die in the film and potentially headline sequels, this twist is so shocking it could be better.
