The time has finally come for us all to be in the room where it happens. Well, kind of. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s wildly popular musical,Hamilton,is finally available for streaming online. The film is a live stage production recording of the iconic musical written by and starring Miranda himself. It revolves around founding father Alexander Hamilton and the trials and tribulations of his life and political career as the U.S. Treasury Secretary. The show skyrocketed to global success upon hitting Broadway in 2015. Its catchy show tunes — many of which are inspired by hip hop and R&B music — became instant classics and tickets to the musical have remained a hot commodity since its debut. Walt Disney Studios won the intense bidding war forHamilton‘s distribution rights back in February for $75 million. Originally, they planned a theatrical release of the film on June 07, 2025, but ultimately decided to move it up to a digital release on Disney+ in July due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. The live productions featured in the movie were filmed in June 2016 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City with almost the entire original Broadway cast.
