Yes, it really is that close. Aussie developers Ari Gibson and William Pellen revealed all in aninterview with Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, explainingwhy it took so longand what kept them from revealing new details along the way.

Towards the end of the conversation, the Team Cherry co-founders couldn’t help but continue their teasing ways. They’re already discussing future DLC and have made it abundantly clear they plan to continue working on Silksong for years to come.

After all these years, you’d understand if the Silksong developers were eager to get the game out and never think about it again. Almost a decade of their life consumed by the follow-up to the smash-hit Metroidvania.

But, it turns out, that’s not the case whatsoever. Devs have enjoyed the luxury of not having deadlines or budgetary constraints, as they revealed to Bloomberg. It’s been a joyful experience, and one they’re happy to continue.

“Launching it is obviously quite exciting,” Pellen said. “What comes after for us is equally as exciting.”

Notably, Silksong itself was originally planned as an add-on for the original Hollow Knight. Before long, devs realized it had grown too ambitious and morphed it into its own standalone title that we’re now just days away from playing.

Who’s to say similar won’t happen here? Devs have made clear they have “big plans to add extra content to Silksong in the months and years to come,” as Schreier put it, but there’s no telling what shape it might take.

Gibson even admitted it himself, adding that “some of the plans for that stuff are kind of ambitious as well.”

Amusingly, this isn’t the first time devs have addressed the idea of post-launch updates for Silksong. Thelast time they did, however, it didn’t go down all too well with the community, with many pestering them to “release the damn game before talking about DLC.”

We’ll just have to wait and see how it all pans out following the launch of Silksong. But it’s clear Team Cherry loves their creations just as much as the most hardcore members of the community and they have no plans to step away from the Hollow Knight saga anytime soon.
