Harrison Ford reveals why he said yes to 1923 Season 2 and it’s a great reason
1923 Season 2is nearly here, bringing a momentous era ofYellowstoneto an end – and Harrison Ford was delighted to return as Jacob Dutton.
Yellowstone may have ended with Season 5, but Taylor Sheridan’s Western dynasty is far from over.1923 Season 2 premieres this weekend, and there are multiple spinoffs in development;1944,6666, a series centered on Beth and Rip,The Madison, and no doubt plenty more.
After the success of1883 (still the best spinoff to date), the first season of 1923 followed Jacob and Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren) as they tended to the ranch and dealt with Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton), amid a blossoming love story between Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) and Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer).
Alongside Mirren, Ford is undoubtedly the biggest star in the show, but it didn’t take much convincing for him to join the cast.
1923 was the perfect project for Harrison Ford
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the 1923 Season 2 premiere, Fordexplainedhis affection for the Western genre. “I love the viscerality of it, I love the physical nature of the storytelling, I love being in natural circumstances,” he said.
“[1923 is] kind of old-fashioned movie-making mostly, no CGI or very little CGI – a little something to sweeten the location. But it’s really essential, old-time storytelling and I love working with this kind of material.”
It’s definitely a contrast from his stint in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing Thaddeus Ross – aka the Red Hulk – in Captain America: Brave New World.
Ford also praised Taylor Sheridan at the premiere, noting his “exceptional writing and incredible storytelling… nothing like it that I’ve ever seen.”
And, unlike the behind-the-scenesrumors from the Captain America set, Ford was said to be an incredibly supportive co-star to the rest of the cast.
“We had a nice scene that was difficult; a full day of work, and he was just emphatically supportive. When we got it done, we both felt like we succeeded, and he was really complimentary. It was a dream,” Brian Geraghty, who plays Zane Davis, toldScreen Rant.

“I think he kissed me on the cheek and went, ‘Great work today!’ We knew we had a lot of stakes to complete, but also just that feeling was… well, it’s Harrison Ford! I’m just grateful I got to spend some time with him.”
