What Happened In Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Episode #9?
Produced by Yostar Pictures; Directed by Hiroshi Takeuchi
Go! Go! Loser Ranger!episode #9, “Battle! Fever! Fighter D!”, continued with D and Kai’s teams fighting over the keys needed to pass the Bailong Exam. Even with their secret Burst Form, D’s team couldn’t completely outclass Kai’s team, but thanks to Angel’s strategizing, Shippou’s bizarre physicality, and XX’s brutality while disguised as Ranmaru,D’s team secured every key needed to pass the Bailong Exam except for the red key.
As D and Kai continued to fight, XX intervened and attempted to kill Kai to get the key, but before she could,Blue Keeper crashed into the scene from above using his Divine Artifact. Realizing that XX was a Monster and not Ranmaru, Blue Keeper chased XX through the testing facility and eventually subdued her with his Divine Artifact. Blue Keeper, fueled with rage over the state XX and Peltrola left Aizome in, then started torturing XX for information, but before she could reveal anything, D arrived and saved her, with D convincing Blue Keeper he thought XX was Ranmaru.

Not in the mood to waste time on explanations, Blue Keeper decided to fight D as well and activated his Divine Artifact to do so. Blue Keeper’s Divine Artifact had a wider variety of abilities than the one he tried to kill D with, and D and XX were quickly left with no way to fight. Blue Keeper, himself, emphasized that as he moved in for the kill, and while talking about how they would pay for what happened to Aizome,D finally accepted that Peltrola was still alive, even though the boss monsters were supposed to be dead.
Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Episode #9 Shows the Depth of One of Its Villains
One of the best parts aboutGo! Go! Loser Ranger!episode #9 was the depth it added to Blue Keeper’s character. Before episode #9, Blue Keeper seemed to be the worst of theDragon Keeperswith how aggressive and violent he was, butGo! Go! Loser Ranger!episode #9 revealed that Blue Keeper is a surprisingly kindhearted person underneath his violent personality, his relationship with Aizome being an especially big part of that. He’s still undeniably a villain, but that extra depth does a lot to flesh out Blue Keeper’s character and keep him from being a generic villain.
Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Episode #9 Is the Anime’s Best Episode Yet
From a technical standpoint, theGo! Go! Loser Ranger!animehas struggled a bit since the first few episodes; no episode has been outright bad, but the animation and direction have rarely ever livied up to the quality of the story. Fortunately, not only was episode #9 of much more consistent quality butthe animation and overall direction ofGo! Go! Loser Ranger!episode #9 was some of the best in the entire anime. The season is slowly coming to a close, and this is a good sign that it’s going to go out on a high note.
The writing for episode #9 was also in top form. The Bailong Exam portion of the episode had a lot of great comedy and character moments from both teams, and when Blue Keeper joined the story, not only did the writing do a great job of selling his depth as a character, butGo! Go! Loser Ranger!also perfectly sold Blue Keeper’s ferocity as a villainthrough how easily and sadistically he handled D and XX.Go! Go! Loser Ranger!episode #9 was easily the best episode to date, and with any luck, episode #10 will be just as great.

Be sure to watchGo! Go! Loser Ranger!episode #10 when it releases on Sunday, June 16.
