Classic Warzone rifle outguns meta weapons with ridiculous long-range TTK
One of Warzone’s most iconic Assault Rifles is back on top of the meta after a buff in Season 5, outgunning the competition at long range with an incredible time-to-kill.
TheWarzone Season 5update brought another overhaul to the meta. Not only did it introduce new weapons like theABR A1, but it also came with plenty of importantbuffs and nerfsto the existing roster of guns.
One of the weapons that benefited most is theCR-56 AMAX, which had been nerfed out of the meta after it was unavoidable for most of Season 3. Now, it’s back to being one of the best guns in the entire game, after receiving a substantial buff to its damage ranges across the board.
CR-56 AMAX is meta again in Warzone Season 5
In his August 12 video, CoD expert WhosImmortal compared the AMAX’s TTK to the other top-tier options, and the results were clear as day.
While the numbers were pretty close up to the 40-meter mark, the CR-56 soon asserted its dominance. At around 50 meters, it can kill in just 668ms, substantially quicker than its closest rival, theAS VALat 740ms.
Even the Cypher 091, which is considered the best Assault Rifle in Season 5, couldn’t keep up, only managing 754ms. It was a similar story at longer distances, with the AMAX remaining around 100ms quicker than the competition for the most part, before dropping off at around 70 meters.
The only caveat to this is that the AMAX is slightly tougher to use than the likes of the Cypher 091, thanks to its more unpredictable recoil. However, with the right attachments, you’re able to keep this to a minimum, allowing you to land shots and achieve the best TTK consistently.

This setup makes the Assault Rifle much more straightforward to use by reducing its recoil. With it, as long as you’re hitting your shots, there are very few weapons in the game that can outgun in it a fight, aside from Sniper Rifles.
