Summary
Sam Carver’s fate at Firehouse 51 may be in limbo, but Jake Lockett has seemingly confirmed his status forChicago Fireseason 13. TheChicago Fireseason 12 finale was packed with so many twists and turns. Chief Boden’s departure from Firehouse 51 was arguably its biggest plot, butJack Damon’s Benny Severide twistwas also noteworthy. Amid all of these storylines, it was easy to overlook Carver’s disappearance at the end of the shift, with Stella Kidd saying he went on an unexpected furlough after a particularly tricky call where he and Damon ended up in a brawl.
Taking it to his official Instagram account,Lockettseemingly confirms thatCarver is still part of Firehouse 51 whenChicago Firereturns for season 13. Check out his post below:

In the video text, Lockett is referring toCarver being part of Truck 81, which is usually the rival, albeit in a friendly manner, of Squad 3, which Joe Miñoso’s Joe Cruz is a part of. The video also features a cameo fromformerChicago Firecast member Alberto Rosende.
Why Chicago Fire Season 13 Needs Carver Back
Carver Has A Vital Role In The Future Of Firehouse 51
Chicago Fireseason 12 featured several character exits, which will have a massive impact on the show’s future. Much has been said about Firehouse 51 losing Boden, but at least the character’s departure was an organic development for his storyline. After all the good work he has done, he deserves the job of spearheading the Chicago Fire Department. Given this,Carver’s potentialChicago Fireexit is bigger than Boden’s. Luckily, it appears that he will eventually find his way back to Firehouse 51 whenChicago Fireseason 13kicks off this fall.
In light of Matt Casey and Blake Gallo’s departures, not to mention the persistent rumors about Kelly Severide also leaving,Carver is positioned to be one of the next faces ofChicago Fire. Despite being a fairly new player in One Chicago, Lockett has settled into the franchise just like his character in Firehouse 51. Aside from being a solid addition to Stella Kidd’s crew, his romance with Violet isChicago Fireseason 12’s best romantic storyline. There’s still so much to explore in their burgeoning relationship, and it would be a shame if it ends because Carver leaves.

Chicago Fire Season 12 Finale Reveals A Major Sylvie Brett Change (Breaking A Firehouse 51 Trend)
The Chicago Fire season 12 finale offers a subtle update about Sylvie Brett revealing that she deviated from a Firehouse 51’s tradition.
Luckily, it seems like Lockett isn’t going anywhere. Firehouse 51 will be in a transition period when it returns inChicago Fireseason 13 because of Boden’s exit. Christopher Hermann may have been chosen as Firehouse 51’s new chief, but there’s no concrete guarantee that it will be smooth. On top of that, there will likely be a new round of characters coming in to fill some personnel void, and that’s always a tricky time for everyone involved. It’s good to know that Kidd and the house have someone as reliable as Carver throughout this duration.

Will Carver & Violet Finally Get Together In Chicago Fire Season 13?
Violet Will Have To Make Some Amends
With his return now basically confirmed, it would be on Violet to make things right between them inChicago Fireseason 13, but he may not be interested in doing that after what happened.
One of the most unexpected plots inChicago Fireis the romance between Carver and Violet. When he first joined Firehouse 51, it did seem like there was tension between him and Kidd, but the show never really delved deep into that plot, even when Kelly Severide went away for the majority of last year. In theChicago Fireseason 11 finale, the series insinuated Carver’s feelings for his superior again, after he looked concerned when Kidd decided to take the next few shifts off to get her husband back to Chicago.

Carver’s feelings towards Kidd were finally confirmed, but not in an expected way. He finally confessed that he did have some residual attraction to his boss, butnone of that mattered because he is now in love with Violet. Unfortunately, Firehouse 51’s PIC was skeptical, until she found out about Carver going on furlough. With his return now basically confirmed, it would be on Violet to make things right between them inChicago Fireseason 13, but he may not be interested in doing that after what happened.
How Chicago Fire Season 13 Changes Carver’s Role In Firehouse 51
Carver Could Become One Of The Key Players In Chicago Fire Season 13
Firehouse 51 will look significantly differentwhen it returns forChicago Fireseason 13. The house lost 4 characters in a span of just 13 episodes, and two of them, Boden and Sylvie Brett, had been in One Chicago for a decade. With Hermann climbing the ranks and Damon’s secret now out, the team may not have seen the last of some casting reshuffles. Amid all of this, Carver, being one of Kidd’s most trusted people on her team, will be of tremendous help. Despite his personal issues, it would be difficult to doubt his loyalty to Firehouse 51.
Why Eamonn Walker’s Boden Left Chicago Fire & What It Means For Season 13
Eamonn Walker joined the several other actors who exited Chicago Fire during season 12 when his character, Chief Boden, said goodbye in the finale.
Assuming that One Chicago continues beyond the 2024-2025 TV season, this wouldpropel Carver to a leadership role in Firehouse 51 moving forward. It doesn’t mean that he would be promoted, thus edging Kidd from her own team. Instead, he would be a strong player in the dynamics of Firehouse 51 in the potentialChicago Fireseason 14.
Chicago Fireis available to stream on Peacock and Prime Video.
