1923 Season 2 is the long-awaited follow-up to Taylor Sheridan’sYellowstonespinoff. The first episode premiered on February 23, and opens with a dedication to one of the original1923 castmembers, Cole Brings Plenty.
Brings Plenty’s name appeared in the news in early 2024, with his death being announced shortly after. As such, it was inevitable that the TV show would include a tribute.

Who is Cole Brings Plenty?
Cole Brings Plenty was an actor who starred in shows such as 1923, The Tall Tales of Jim Bridger, and Into the Wild Frontier. He played Pete Plenty Clouds in 1923Season 1.
Pete first comes into the Yellowstone spinoff during Season 1, after Teonna escapes from the abusiveAmerican Indian residential school.
Teonna meets Pete and his father, Hank, in Episode 7. They take her under their wing, and Pete tracks down her father, Runs His Horse, to inform him of his daughter’s escape.
Hank is killed by one of the priests who hunt Teonna down, and when Pete and Runs His Horse find them, they wrap his body in a ceremony. During their time together, Pete and Teonna develop romantic feelings for each other. The end of the season shows Teonna crying in his arms.
Cole Brings Plentydied at 27 years old in April 2024.

How did he die?
Cole Brings Plenty was found dead on August 11, 2025 after being reported as a missing person, but his cause of deathwas legally sealed by a Johnson County judge.
On Tuesday April 2, police had identified Cole Brings Plenty as a suspect in a domestic violence case. The incident, which happened on March 31, gave them “probable cause for his arrest.”
Their official statement said: “Officers responded to reports of a female screaming for help, but the suspect fled before officers arrived.
“The investigation identified Brings Plenty and traffic cameras showed him leaving the city immediately after the incident, travelling southbound on 59 Highway.
“This incident involves allegations of domestic violence, which limits the amount of information we can share to protect the victim.”
Later that week, his familyreported him as a missing personafter he missed an appointment with his agent. Police were dispatched to look at an abandoned vehicle in Johnson County, Kansas, which led them to the discovery of his body in a wooded area.
He was declared dead on July 03, 2025, with no cause of death specified. His uncle, Moses Brings Plenty (who plays Mo in Yellowstone), shared a statement from his brother Joe – Cole’s father – on Instagram.

“I am deeply saddened to confirm that my son, Cole, has been found and is no longer with us,” it said.
“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the prayers and positive thoughts you sent for Cole. During this incredibly difficult time, we ask for privacy as we process our grief and figure out how we move forward.”
At the request of his family, a judge sealed his cause of death from the public in April 2024. However, police said there was “no foul play suspected” in his death.
Who plays Pete in 1923 Season 2?
Actor Jeremy Gauna now plays Pete Plenty Clouds in 1923 Season 2.
Gauna is no stranger to the Yellowstone universe. In fact, he appeared in 1883, playing a warrior who Elsa Dutton shoots.
Elsa’s wagon group is attacked by Native Americans, who mistakenly blame them for the brutal murder of their families. Gauna’s character talks to Elsa about the attack, telling her he will either sell her or kill her.
She then takes a gun from one of the dead bodies and shoots him off his horse. Moments later, another attacker strikes her with an arrow.
Gauna also played Tall Shadow in the 2024 Netflix Western series American Primeval.
Pete Plenty Clouds still remains a major character in 1923 Season 2, with his and Teonna’s romance continuing to grow.
